Feeding the Hungry in the Pacific Northwest

We are a Christian faith-based organization that supports our local agriculture in the Pacific Northwest.

Our desire is to help people feed their families by providing a delicious, nutritious, protein-based product.

With the help of our volunteers and donors, Homestead provides wholesome nutritious food from product grown locally.

One soup packet at a time

This is where we live. This is our back yard. THERE IS A HUNGER PROBLEM LOCALLY. We are asking – Can we get out of our comfort zone and help these people? Can we challenge ourselves to show compassion and demonstrate our concern for others? Do we have what it takes – that is – do we have a heart of compassion and are we willing to be obedient to Scripture?

Who We Are / Who We Serve

Homestead Ministries was founded by friends Tom Riedner and Greg Nolan in early August 2014. We have one mission that stands out from our other goals – and that is – to spread love and understanding of the Gospel, one soup packet at a time.

At Homestead, we discovered that our efforts impact two distinct groups. The first includes those who are underprivileged or facing hardships, while the second comprises individuals who actively engage with our organization.

For the first group, we provide our nourishing soup products free of charge to anyone in need. Our goal is to deliver locally sourced, protein-rich, and shelf-stable food to those who require it most. We leave no one behind, extending our support to homeless shelters and food banks from the Palouse Region to Spokane and Boise. Our dedicated volunteers, some of whom are long-haul truck drivers, carry boxes of our soups in their cabs, distributing them to individuals in need at truck stops across Idaho and Montana.

The second group encompasses those who find value and fulfillment in contributing to Homestead. Many people possess a natural inclination to help others, be it vulnerable seniors, children, individuals struggling with addiction, or those who have simply fallen on hard times. Our organization offers a unique opportunity for these compassionate souls to gain hands-on experience while making a difference. In doing so, not only do they positively impact others’ lives, but they also experience a sense of personal growth and satisfaction.

Lend a Hand to Homestead

At Homestead, we welcome your support in various forms. If you have agricultural resources, you can contribute by donating commodities such as peas, lentils, garbanzos, wheat, or barley. For those who don’t have crops to donate, your valuable time and services are equally appreciated. Cash donations are another meaningful way to help, as they enable us to purchase necessary products, supplies, and facilitate transportation. Furthermore, we are always on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers to join our efforts in assembling soup mixes, putting together our carefully crafted spice packages, or collaborating with other groups to create nourishing soups. Every contribution, big or small, helps us make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
